On Wednesday, our students were treated to an unforgettable master class with the internationally acclaimed violinist Midori. A deeply committed community leader and humanitarian, among Midori’s accolades she was named a United Nations Messenger of Peace in 2007 and a Kennedy Center Honoree in 2021.
The rapt audience was treated to sensational performances from seventh grader Noelle and Crowden alumna Alexie (‘24) accompanied expertly by Miles Graber for the master class. Midori shared amazingly insightful feedback which not only immediately helped the outstanding performers, but shared advice that all the members of the audience could apply usefully in music and beyond. It was a true privilege to see one of the world’s greatest artists at work.
Very special thanks go to our friends at San Francisco Performances giving Crowden the opportunity to be collaborative partners for Midori’s SFP residency. We will have another similar opportunity on the morning of April 4 to collaborate in another SFP residency, this time with the young star violinist Randall Goosby. Extra thanks go to Noelle, Alexie, and Miles, and of course to Midori herself for a truly unforgettable experience.
More pictures to come!
